Accounting Manager
Position: Accounting Manager - food manufacturer and distributor
Job Overview: As the Accounting Manager of a food manufacturer and distributor, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial operations and reporting of the company's accounting department. Your responsibilities will encompass managing financial transactions, ensuring accurate and timely financial records, and coordinating with other departments to achieve financial objectives. You will be a key member of the management team, contributing to strategic decision-making and supporting the company's financial growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Ensure compliance with accounting principles, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with the executive team to develop annual budgets and long-term financial forecasts. Monitor and analyze financial performance against budgets and provide insights for decision-making.
- General Ledger Management: Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger, ensuring accurate recording of transactions and adherence to proper accounting procedures.
- Accounts Receivable/Payable: Manage accounts receivable and payable functions, ensuring timely invoicing, payment processing, and resolving any outstanding issues.
- Tax Compliance: Work closely with tax professionals to ensure accurate and timely preparation of tax filings, including income tax, sales tax, and payroll tax.
- Cost Analysis: Perform cost analysis and monitor production costs to assist in determining product pricing and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Financial Strategy: Collaborate with the executive team to develop financial strategies aligned with the company's growth objectives and market trends.
- ERP Systems: Implement and maintain efficient accounting systems and technologies, optimizing processes for accuracy and efficiency.
- Financial Policies: Develop and enforce financial policies and procedures to safeguard company assets and maintain strong internal controls.
- Financial Communication: Provide financial information and analysis to the executive team and other departments, supporting informed decision-making.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master's degree or CPA qualification is advantageous.
- Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in a supervisory accounting role, preferably within the food industry, with a focus on meat and poultry.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and tax regulations.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and accounting software.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Effective communication skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Detail-oriented and able to work under tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated integrity and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
